RETURN TO FOOTBALL TRAINING
RETURN TO FOOTBALL TRAINING
HERE IS THE TRAINING SCHEDULE FOR 2020
undefinedDear Players, Coaches and Parents

We can now officially resume football activities, albeit on a restricted basis and taking
care to maintain good hygiene protocols (as mandated by Government). As a Club, we ask that you adhere to
these rules and respond positively to the reasonable requests of the Club.

• Training can recommence immediately, but under strict rules limiting gatherings to groups of 10x, including a
coach / parent.
This means for most teams 2x coaches/parents are required.
For non-competition teams (U6-U11s), we are attempting to commence training on Saturday mornings.
More from your Age Manager once we have established if this a viable option (rather than evenings in
June).

• Plans are under development for an official start to the season on the first weekend in July, commencing
Friday, 3 July, with the majority of games on 4 July and some perhaps on 5 July. A draw will be circulated in
due course.
With this start date, and an extended season, it is anticipated a full league round of games can be achieved.
Grand finals, where applicable, may be limited to a Premiership 1st v 2nd finish.
There will be NO reschedules for any washout round.
• Below is important information that players, coaches and guardians of our younger members should
familiarise yourself with.
We thank you for your patience and support.

Please read all the information supplied in this document as all players and parents must follow the guidelines
and logistical expectations to keep everyone safe. Your Age Managers will supply Coaches and Managers
with additional information.

We have designed the drop off (arrival) and pick up times for Training to create the best social distance flow for
the squads.

Training will be in a Max 10 - No contact format until advised otherwise.
Parent/s / Guardians:
• It is very important that you adhere to your team’s training timings to help us minimise interaction between
groups.
Drop off – limited to players and coaches only. Parents, please stay in your car.
Unfortunately, you can’t stay and watch training. Only managers and those with volunteer roles will be
allowed on or around the training facility. You can, however, wait in your cars.
• If players are waiting to enter the training facility, they must maintain social distance (1.5 metres) and must
not interact with the other groups. On arrival
We may be temperature testing players, which does not involve any touching of players.
Parent pick up - you must wait by your vehicle, maintaining social distance until your child is ready to be
picked up.
They will be held at a safe point to avoid children walking or running across the carpark.
• We suggest players do not carpool at this time due to social distancing.
• Ensure players have their kit, own water bottle and we suggest their own sanitiser (consider labelling)
• Players must not attend if they show COVID symptoms or are in contact with someone who has had COVID.
• We strongly recommend parents/players download and enable the COVID SAFE App.
• We are currently investigating the use of Team App to assist with the management of training. A separate
communication will be sent in due course, if Team App is considered to be a useful tool.
• Go through the player information (which you should receive via your team’s coach / manager and this
document and logistics with your child. If you do not receive anything from your coach / manager, please
contact your Age Manager (details for whom are on the Club website by selecting the “The Club” drop down
box).
Players:
• Players must arrive at their training venue at their stated arrival times (not earlier) and go straight to
designated area.
o Synthetic is marked into thirds for training, accordingly, arriving teams should gather on the lower tier
adjacent to the third of the field which they have been allocated for the evening’s training session.
• No socialising by players before or after training, please leave promptly to minimise interaction with other
groups of players.

• Training Information:
o 10 players/coach training in team designated area only (social distancing). You may need to split your
designated area into two in order to accommodate two groups of up to 10.
o The team coach is encouraged to organise training squads (2x10 players/coach) in advance.
Hence, it is important to communicate with your coach / manager and be on time to help with this
organisation. Without your commitment, valuable training time will be wasted for ALL.
o While FNSW suggests leaving your bag 2 metres from your team-mates, Penno suggests leaving it in
your car and arrive dressed ready to play.
o No physical contact during training (e.g. tackling) and keep social distance at all times.
o NO sharing of drink bottles. Consider labelling your own drink bottle.
o While the Club will provide hand sanitisers, players are encouraged to bring their own.
o Use sanitiser (your coach will have some) regularly, each team will be provided with a supply.
o If you are given a bib, please treat this bib as your responsibility for the session, take it home, wash
it. You will be expected to keep it and use for the remainder of the season (unless otherwise
advised).
o Absolutely NO Spitting on the ground. If you are observed doing so, you will may be asked to leave,
and the session may be abandoned.
o Changerooms will NOT be available AND you should NOT use the water bubblers.
o There will be ONLY LIMITED use of toilets (social distance and hygiene required whilst using these).
Only 2 people can enter at a time.
Hopefully, by following the above guidelines, we can all enjoy a safe and enjoyable return to football.
Following these rules is important to ensure that there is NO second wave and that the next step for
football is a return to game play, currently scheduled for the first weekend in July.
I hope to be in touch soon with more details regarding to the planned return to game play, including gameday
guidelines, and if we are fortunate enough and well-behaved as community, a further relaxation in
protocols.

Yours in football, stay safe, stay well and most of all welcome back to football.
Go Penno

MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT TONY MACKO
Dear Players, Parents and Carers
I would like to extend a warm welcome to Season 2020 at Pennant Hills Football Club, A Club Like No Other, one of the most successful clubs and Premier League teams in the history of our local football association.
We are a proud Club, with a fantastic footballing philosophy of sportsmanship and fun, regularly featuring at the top of our local associations’ annual best and fairest, including our U17-1 girls taking out the North West Sydney Women’s Football Association (NWSWFC) best and fairest award in 2019.
Over the coming years, the Committee would like to develop our Community aspects and have Penno play a bigger part on our local social scene, whether it be through a gala-style MiniRoos on a Saturday morning, or socially through evening events. If you think you can help, please feel free to contact me.

SUSPENSION OF FOOTBALL ACTIVITIES UNTIL 14 APRIL 2020
SUSPENSION OF FOOTBALL ACTIVITIES UNTIL 14 APRIL 2020
MESSAGE FROM NORTH WEST SYDNEY FOOTBALL 17 MARCH 2020
Dear Club Representatives
The COVID-19 outbreak has clearly affected us all.
That said, and as I am sure you would all agree and appreciate, we all play our part in minimising its spread so as to bring it under control as soon as practically possible. Parallel to all government and community announcements about ‘social distancing’, good hygiene practices, football and indeed all sport has a role to play amongst our members and all involved in the game.
To this end, today Football Federation Australia (FFA) has released an updated Circular (Circular No 20-06), suspending all community football activities (i.e. below A-League and W-League), effective from midnight 17 March, all sanctioned grassroots football activity in Australia will be suspended until 14 April 2020.
For your information, I have attached a copy of Circular No 20-06 and this will be used by FFA on all of its social media platforms.  Please make your members aware of this Circular.
What does this mean for our Association, our competitions/leagues and your clubs ?
·         Effective immediately, all games, training and other football activities (courses etc) must cease;
·         Where possible, unnecessary meetings and other gatherings should either cease or be minimised. It is suggested that you look to alternative forms of meeting (teleconferences) or by utilising other forms of technology (e.g. Skype).
·         No competitions/leagues will commence at this stage and the NWSF competitions will be postponed until 14 April 2020.
·         Any football activity which takes place during this period is not sanctioned by the Association nor Football NSW and, therefore, the Personal Accident insurance cover that is provided as part of a player’s registration may not apply
As you would appreciate, we are working with Football NSW, who is in turn constantly liaising with FFA and relevant government agencies, and everyone is committed to keeping you informed and up to date in these rapidly changing times. The Board will discuss this regularly and keep all clubs informed of developments.
I thank you for your patience, cooperation and assistance, and would respectfully request that you distribute this information through all your teams and club delegates as soon as practically possible.
COACHES AND MANAGERS
COACHES AND MANAGERS
Coaches and Managers presentation will be placed on our website and questions can be emailed to our secretary who will collate responses.
Also note -
Please regularly refer back to our website for further updates. At present, the season, including training and trial games, has been suspended until at least 14 April 2020.
CORONAVIRUS NOTICE TO CLUBS FROM YOUR ASSOCIATION
CORONAVIRUS NOTICE TO CLUBS FROM YOUR ASSOCIATION
Message from NWSF 9 March 2020
The Board considered the current situation regarding the Covid19 virus and its potential impact on NWSF competitions.

At this stage, the Board will follow the advice from FFA/FNSW which was previously circulated to the clubs (see attached). In particular "the Australian Government has advised that there is no cause for alarm, with the risk to the Australian public remaining relatively low at this stage".
Therefore, there are no plans at this stage to recommend cancellation of training or matches.
Clubs should encourage their members to follow the Australian Government's guidelines as to how to reduce the risk of getting Coronavirus. All participants are encouraged to use thorough handwashing techniques and anti-bacterial hand gels: www.who.int/gpsc/clean_hands_protection/en/
We also recommend that participants reassess how they greet people on a day-to-day basis and how they can minimise contact with other participants in and around the football field.

The Board will continue to monitor the situation and advice from FFA/FNSW and Department of Health and will make a reassessment should it be necessary.
Specifically, it is their recommendation that:

If any players, officials, team officials, committee members or other participants have:
  • visited or transited through mainland China, Iran or South Korea in the previous 14 days;
  • visited another country at risk of coronavirus in the previous 14 days (e.g. Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Thailand and Singapore);
  • or been in close contact of a confirmed case of coronavirus,
 they must:
  • self-isolate themselves for 14 days from the day they departed the relevant country;
  • self-isolate themselves for 14 days after the date of last contact with the confirmed case; and
  • monitor themselves for symptoms.
Dear Association and Branch Representatives,

We wish to provide you with this short update in respect of coronavirus (COVID-19).

At this stage, we are aware of the following schools having been affected by coronavirus:

  • St Patrick's Marist College (Dundas) – operations temporarily ceased for two days from Monday, 9 March 2020;
  • Willoughby Girls High School – operations temporarily ceased for two days from Monday, 9 March 2020;
  • Epping Boys High School - operations resumed from Monday, 9 March 2020.
The current advice from the NSW Government for parents and affected staff at all schools is as follows:

  • Any student or staff member who has left, or transited through the following countriesis excluded from child care services, school or work for 14 days from the date they left the country:
    • mainland China - since 1 February
    • Iran - since 1 March
    • the Republic of Korea (South Korea) - since 5 March.
  • Any confirmed case of COVID-19 will be excluded until they are medically cleared to return.
  • Close contacts of a confirmed case of COVID-19 will be excluded for 14 days since
    last
contact with the confirmed case (close contacts of a person with a confirmed infection are generally people staying in the same house or sharing a closed space for a prolonged length of time).
  • Students and staff who have returned to Australia and have shown no symptoms during the 14-day self-isolation period are able to return to school or work.
The NSW Ministry of Health has processes in place to identify any close contacts of cases confirmed in Australia.  It is advising these close contacts about not attending work, school or early childhood and childcare services.  Further information about close contacts can be found here.

Football NSW has recently put together its own Notice in relation to coronavirus and a copy is available here for your information.

Football NSW commits to continue to provide further information and support as it comes to hand via similar emails.

The information contained herein is provided by way of guidance only and must not be taken as health or legal advice.

Life Membership - Gladesville Hornsby Football Association (GHFA) - Grahame Bateman
In a fitting end to an era, following the merger of GHFA with North West Sydney Women’s Football Association (“NWSWFA”), Grahame Bateman (“GB”) was awarded life membership of GHFA in recognition of his contribution to all things Penno FC, the greater GHFA and NWSWFA and our broader Pennant Hills community.
Peter Quessy spoke on behalf of Penno FC as the nominator at last night’s Final GHFA, thanking GHFA and those involved for their service to our football community, as well as highlighting GB’s many achievements.
Below is a summary of GB’s involvement, contribution and achievements.
  • Joined Penno FC in 1997
  • Joined Penno FC committee 1998, as Vice President to date
3 sons joined Penno FC as juniors, and are still playing today (2 within the PL squad)

He has always ensured Penno FC and its members come first, yet at the same time has always made himself available to other clubs pursuing facilities upgrades.
Penno FC and the Football community are all in a better place having had GB in their corner.
I am sure that you will all agree that Grahame is a most worthy recipient of GHFA Life membership, particularly as we transition from GHFA to NWSF.
When you next see Grahame, please congratulate him on receiving this prestigious recognition within our broader footballing community.
Yours in football

Life Membership - Tim House
7 Sep 19 - Life membership - Tim House
At our 2019 Presentation Day, on 7 September, we announced the award of new life membership.
Our newest life-member arrived in Pennant Hills in 2003; and is another example of one of our Penno Juniors that may always have seemed destined for our Premier League squad, first playing for Premier League in 2005.
He first played for Penno in the U10-3s in 2004.  By his mid-late teens, he was playing Division 1 football and would soon capture the attention of Premier League, as a fleet-footed left-back with blistering pace.
He is a committed Christian and was leading his Church’s Beach Mission on the South Coast last Christmas when on the first day while surfing, he broke a number of vertebrae.
Last week, he came home from rehab after his family home in Pennant Hills was converted to accommodate his needs.
We were extremely delighted, and I know that he was too, that he was able to join us at our recent Back to Penno Day and toss the coin for the First-Grade game.  It was a small step, but an important step of returning to his and our community.
As a Club Like No Other – we wanted to do something to ensure that he remains a strong part of our football community.  Conferring Life-Membership is a small thing that we can do to ensure that he remains a part of our Club well into the future.
Please join me in congratulating Tim House on becoming the newest life-member of Pennant Hills Football Club.
If you see Tim around, please stop and say hello.
Thank-you.

Tony Macko    President - Pennant Hills FC
